Couple Nancy and Hall should be proud of their son, Richard Overton, for being an influential character in modern comedy. Raised in Englewood, Rick as a young man first took public appearance onscreen playing Dr. Thurman in the film Young Doctors In Love in 1982. He also took roles for fantasy films like The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne and Willow.
After being featured in numerous shows, he landed on a major comedy show dubbed The Edge of FOX channel in 1992 until 1993. He was also casted in Mrs. Doubtfire, another comedy film in the late part of 1993. Recent TV series like Lost also featured the actor in some episodes.
To focus on his career as a film and TV personality would be an incomplete account of his life though. Overton has also been involved with screenwriting, and in fact has won an Emmy in 1996 for an episode he wrote on HBO’s Dennis Miller Live. He wrote 20 episodes for the show in total.
He was also nominated by the same award giving body and the Writers Guild of America Award the following year for Comedy or Variety Programs. His wit and inclination towards comedy has led him to work with Paul Provenza and Dan Dion in their Satiristas show, which can also be found in hardcover.

Overton’s social and political strength is something that young people and even older ones find inspiring. Because with humor, he is able to elaborate on sensitive topics like social injustice, environmental pollution and racism to awaken the society about their wrongdoings.
Luckily, despite many controversies in the society, Richard Overton still has time to relax when he’s not doing his job as a stand up comedian. He loves dogs but never has one.
